When we talk about inner freedom, we often refer to silence. But why is it so difficult to find peace in the silence of the mind in order to make it permanent?
The one trying to be free of the mind is also the mind itself. How can mind be free of mind? The whole effort to want freedom from the mind is motivated from a place of fear and powerlessness, so it’s bound to keep you in the same place of attachment.
It’s fine to have an intention to be free of the negative noise of the mind, but one then has to question who is judging the mind to be negative? Is it not the mind again? By judging the mind to be negative, and then trying to control it or change it, you are just entering into a vicious loop of negativity. So the first thing you need is to realize is that the mind is not the problem but the one who is judging the mind is. I feel it has nothing to do with the silence of the mind, but rather to do with the perspective in which the experience takes place. As if the mind is there, but it doesn’t mind…

Can the mind be seen without the thought creating the observer?
